Dr Aleena Wojcieszek

Honorary Senior Research Fellow

Aleena is a clinical perinatal epidemiologist and science communicator. She has expertise in synthesising evidence and translating it into clinical practice guidelines, implementation resources, and advocacy and communications materials. She has worked with the national and international stillbirth research community since 2012, including on the 2016 Lancet series on Ending Preventable Stillbirths, where she co-authored two series papers and drafted the series executive summary. Aleena was an Associate Investigator on the original Stillbirth CRE grant and has worked with the Stillbirth CRE since its inception. She is now an independent consultant who partners with research institutes and national and international health bodies to improve maternal and newborn health at the global level. She has worked with the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), US Agency for International Development (USAID), and various professional organisations. She has also worked with the International Stillbirth Alliance (ISA), including as the lead writer of “Preventing and addressing stillbirths along the continuum of care: a global advocacy and implementation guide.”
