Multiple barriers to perinatal autopsy consent have been identified and parents decisions reflect an often complex interplay of parent-, clinician- and system-level influences. Clinicians have a critical role in assisting parents to navigate their decision, but are often poorly equipped for this role. This study aims to provide a detailed account of the role of clinicians in the autopsy decision-making process and to identify barriers and enablers to the provision of effective parent-centred decision support. Results of the study were presented at the International Stillbirth Alliance, Madrid, 2019.
