Australia has made strides towards reducing stillbirths by 20% by December 2025, a target set out in the 2020 National Stillbirth Action and Implementation Plan, but there is still work to be done.
Stillbirth CRE Director, Professor Vicki Flenady sat down with ABC to talk about what needs to happen to meet these targets and how continued national support, access to timely, accurate data and continued funding from the government will be key to driving down stillbirth rates.
PhD student and Stillbirth CRE researcher Kirstin Tindal was also part of the important conversation and generously shared her experience of losing her daughter Aurora, stillborn at 22 weeks. Kirstin spoke to the devastating consequences for families if these targets are not met and how her experience is helping to prevent stillbirth and support families suffering the loss.
