Dr Michelle Carty

Senior Research Assistant

Michelle is a senior research assistant at the Stillbirth CRE. She completed a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) with Honours in 2005 followed by a PhD at the Perinatal Research Centre in 2012. This research focussed on the characterisation of brain injury and the role of neuroinflammation in the neonatal brain following a hypoxic ischemic episode. Her current research focuses on understanding the experience of parents who were pregnant or gave birth during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a particular focus on the experience of parents who experienced a stillbirth or death of a newborn.
