The Stillbirth Foundation Australia (SFA) and Stillbirth Centre of Research Excellence (Stillbirth CRE) support organisations and institutions undertaking research into the cause, prevention, and management of stillbirth.

We are pleased to announce the call for our joint 2021 grant funding round is now open.

The Foundation will consider applications that address any aspect of stillbirth; however, priority will be given to clinical studies that address any of the three areas below:

  • Novel/non-invasive ways to monitor fetal health and wellbeing;
  • The development of novel platforms or models of care to reduce stillbirth; and
  • The provision of high-quality care to support women and their families at the time of stillbirth.

Applications will be considered for project support or people support. Applications that seek part funding where support can be obtained from other sources will be viewed favourably. All levels of funding (i.e., financial request) will be considered and all applications will be reviewed by an independent Scientific Assessment Committee that consists of researchers, consumers, and clinical staff. As a guide, previous grant applications received funding between AUD40,000 and AUD120,000.

The closing date for applications is 5:00pm AEDT Friday 29 October 2021.

Please email research@stillbirthfoundation.org.au with your application submission and/or any questions.

Please note, this year we will not fund university surcharges, or any other indirect costs charged by academic institutions. We will not fund conference travel or building funds.

Grant applications will be accepted from Australian bodies only. Applications are assessed once a year.
