Tahlia Johnson is a proud Warumunga woman and registered midwife, based on Kaurna country. Tahlia currently works at Flinders University, where she combines her passion for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and midwifery with her dedication to teaching and research.
With a strong commitment to improving maternity care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, Tahlia is set to begin her PhD in 2025. Her research will focus on the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in the south of Adelaide who do not have access to a birthing-on-country model of care. Through her work, Tahlia aims to develop strategies that support the delivery of culturally safe and accessible maternity services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, helping to address gaps in care and ensure better outcomes for mothers and babies.
Tahlia’s professional journey reflects her ongoing dedication to supporting communities and advocating for better healthcare options that are grounded in culture, safety, and respect.
