Elias M. Roro, PhD student (MPH, BSc)
Elias is a PhD student at the Mater Research Institute, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Queensland, Australia. An environmental health professional by training, Elias received a Bachelor of Science with a Distinction in 2007 from Haramaya University, and received a Masters in Public Health/General Public Health in 2013 from Addis Ababa University.
Elias was promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor in Public Health, Wollega University in 2020 before joining The University of Queensland for his PhD study.
Elias worked at Wollega University for 14 years in academic, research and community service works. He is a registered public health expert from the Oromia Regional Health Office since 2016. He was a research team lead in Innovative Collaboration with Exeter University UK, Wollega University and the Ethiopian Red Cross Society -East Wollega Zone.
He was a coordinator for continuing education in the Institute of Health Science, Wollega University. He is involved in more than 40 research projects and has ten peer-reviewd publications in international journals. He is working as academic reviewer for four international journals. He was a secretary of academic commission for the College of Health sciences, Wollega University.
Elias was named a best researcher of the year 2017 year among academic staff in department of public health in 2017. He received an honorary for Best Humanitarian Volunteer Contribution from the Ethiopian Red Cross Society. He was a central committee member for WASH Project and the Red Cross Society.
